An Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Administrator designs, deploys, and manages cloud-based virtual desktop infrastructure, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability. Key responsibilities include creating host pools, managing FSLogix profiles, configuring session host images, automating tasks via PowerShell/ARM templates, and monitoring user experience using Azure Monitor.
Key Responsibilities
- Deployment & Configuration: Setup and manage AVD host pools, application groups, and workspaces.
- Image Management: Create, patch, and maintain "golden images" for session hosts, often using Azure VM Image Builder.
- Profile Management: Implement and troubleshoot FSLogix to ensure user profile persistence across sessions.
- Security & Compliance: Configure Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Conditional Access policies, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
- Monitoring & Optimization: Utilize Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Auto-scaling to optimize performance and manage costs.
- Automation: Use PowerShell, Azure CLI, or ARM/Bicep templates to automate deployment and management tasks.
- Support & Troubleshooting: Provide Tier 2/3 support for connectivity and session-related issues.
